RENFREW — A unique grand prize for this year’s Renfrew Victoria Hospital Auxiliary Christmas Countdown Raffle offered 25 days of gifts for the winning ticket holder.

A two-night hotel stay in a Jacuzzi suite, two ski lift passes, and an auto detailing package were among the wonderful prizes in the countdown calendar, along with many gift certificates including $1,000 of gift certificates purchased from the BIA to support downtown merchants, and merchandise. The total value was estimated at $2,700.

“We had really great prizes,” said Janie Bilson, Auxiliary fundraising committee. “The community was so supportive and generous.”

Adding to the appeal of the prize was the fact that the prizes are housed in a handmade cabinet that can be used as a display during the holidays and then transformed into a wine cabinet for the rest of the year.

In addition to the first prize calendar, the raffle included a second prize one-night resort package at Calabogie Peaks Resort Hotel with a choice of seasons, and third prize of beer for a year provided monthly by Calabogie Brewing Company.

On Monday November 26, auxiliary members gathered in the Auxiliary Solarium at RVH as the prize-winning tickets were drawn by Sarah Robinson, RVH Foundation Executive Director.

“We appreciate and thank the dedicated members of the auxiliary who work tirelessly all year long to support RVH in providing quality care in our community,” said Ms. Robinson.

Barb Symington, Auxiliary president shared that more than 3,000 tickets were sold for the Christmas raffle, raising more than $11,250 for the hospital.

“Thanks to the community, businesses who donated, individuals who bought tickets, and to the fundraising committee members who worked so hard to make this fundraiser a success,” said Ms. Symington.

The winner of the first prize Christmas countdown calendar was Tanya Beimers of Kanata. Jamie Caswell of Cobden won the second prize resort stay, and Barb Leclaire of Renfrew won third prize — beer for a year.

Major sponsors included Calabogie Brewing Company, Calabogie Peaks Resort, Renfrew Days Inn & Conference Centre, Mack Mackenzie Motors, Melcher Heating & Cooling, Valley Automation and Deslaurier Custom Cabinets. Donors to the draw were George Jackson Toyota, Dentistry in the Valley, Metro, Rocky Mountain House, Flamingo Restaurant, Giant Tiger, Pura Vida Nutrition House, Tim Hortons and First Choice Hair Cutters.
