I read with interest the mayor’s statement regarding the cowardly massacre of innocent students and teachers in Peshawar, Pakistan by the Taliban. His message of love, acceptance and tolerance of all races and religions is commendable. There is however one caveat we must put in place if we are to maintain our peaceful, accepting and democratic society. That stipulation must be the restricting and curtailing of Islamism. History has proven and our generation has exemplified and confirmed the evils of that ideology. Islam and every Muslim is committed to enforcing their beliefs on all of mankind worldwide as is openly spelled out in the Quran (Koran). Immigrants coming to this country and other western nations that they are being welcomed into are allowed entry based on their willingness to integrate into our country and embrace our Canadian culture. Our culture of course has as its foundation Christian-Judeo values and ethics, the very fuel that has provided us with success and prosperity that we enjoy and defend. To date it has become evident that Islam is not compatible with those ethics and values. So, tolerance does have its limitations and we should not be shy in making that known.
