WESTMEATH — The Riverview Social Club in Westmeath heard the cry for financial help and dug deep into their coffers for the Whitewater Historical Society.
A $500 donation was recently made to president Mac Coughlin. This money will go towards ongoing and repairs of the Ross Museum in Foresters Falls.
The social club also thanked the Westmeath District Recreation Association for allowing the Whitewater Seniors to use the community hall for free for the four days of rehearsals and performances of Laugh Louder, Live Longer. To show its appreciation, the club donated $500 to the Association.
The social club is also grateful to the Township of Whitewater Region for responding positively to its request for funds.
The donation of $2,500 will pay for the transportation of a number of seniors residing in senior homes to the play, which was also free.
The funds not used will be used as seed money to set up a Council for the Arts in Whitewater Region. This council will be set up within the next few months and will encompass all of the township.
The election of officers was also held for the Riverview Social Club. Doreen McNair is president; Linda Bromley vice-president; Bob Grylls is secretary and Paul Stewart is treasurer.
