Whitewater RAM Rodeo is the newest stop on the 2014 RAM Rodeo Tour.
The rodeo will be held at the Beachburg fairgrounds on Aug. 15, 16 and 17.
The event is hosted by the Beachburg Agricultural Society, which is continuing its history of bringing positive change to the community, by hosting this event just a few weeks after the annual July fair. Because of their efforts, numerous improvements to the facilities and grounds that serve the community have come to fruition, noted Howard Winters, chairman of the Beachburg rodeo committee.
In 2012 a new beer garden facility was constructed along with a new performance stage. In 2013 Heritage Hall, a world-class wedding and event facility was created through the complete renovation and overhaul of the historical Exhibition, he said.
“These two important additions to the fairgrounds only enhance the experience for the visitor and the competitor alike, as well as serve the community throughout the entire year,” Mr. Winters said.
In addition to the two RAM Rodeo performances, Saturday at 5 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m., there will be the legendary Friday and Saturday night rodeo dances, featuring rising country rock star Ty Baynton and his band.
The weekend starts Friday at 6 p.m. when the food vendors and the beer garden open. At 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights, Tyson Sullivan plays in the beer garden as the opening act for Ty Baynton and his band at 9 p.m.
Ty Baynton is an interesting mix of good ol’ boy, philosopher and mischief. His tongue-in-cheek sense of humour sometimes masks his deep appreciation for living life on purpose. As a prolific songwriter, his lyrics reveal his love of country living, friends, family and a rocking good time. As a performer, his real pleasure comes from having the crowd singing back to him, as one of his songs says. Ty is serious about the quality of his music, but never takes himself too seriously. Ty would rather play music than just about anything else. That others love to listen has been an added bonus and a pleasure.
Many children’s activities will be in the children’s area on Saturday and Sunday, including clowns, face-painting, balloon artists, and bouncy castles.
Starting at 8 a.m. on Saturday horses and riders will take to the ring in a shoot-out and team penning jackpot.
Canada’s favourite television and screen star Amber Marshall will be in attendance at the Whitewater RAM Rodeo. Born and raised in London, Ontario, Amber is now starting her eighth season of portraying Amy Fleming on the popular CBC series Heartland.
She will greet her Ottawa Valley fans and spend time with them. Ms.Marshall will be in her favourite place, in the saddle on her horse and co-hosting the Saturday rodeo performance. She will be available after the rodeo to greet her fans. She will appear later on stage at the rodeo dance Ty Baynton.
In addition to being voted Canada’s Favourite Screen Star at the 2013 Canadian Screen Awards, Ms.Marshall was nominated for a Los Angeles based “Young Artist Award” for her work as the title character in The Elizabeth Smart Story, a movie-of-the-week based on the true story of the 2002 abduction of Utah teenager Elizabeth Smart. She has had regular roles in other television series and movies. Amber also publishes her own magazine, Amber Marshall: Life & Style, which is available online at www.ambermarshall.com
A former veterinary assistant who is passionate about all animals, Ms. Marshall has been around horses as long as she can remember. She has been riding since a very young age and says that the two things she loves the most – acting and horses – have come together to create this dream role of Amy on the Heartland series.
On Sunday morning heavy and light horse teams will demonstrate their pulling abilities before the Sunday rodeo performance.
All these events are shaping up to make August 15, 16 & 17 a truly unforgettable weekend in the country, Mr.Winters said. Whitewater RAM Rodeo is one tour stop that should not be missed as it exemplifies an entire community coming together for a terrific weekend of fun, family and festivities, he added.
