In loving memory of Russell James Mullins who left his earthly home at Bonnechere Manor Renfrew and slipped peacefully into the arms of his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, April 8, 2015. Born in Horton Township on October 16, 1922, he was predeceased by his mother Lila Eady, his father James, his sister Muriel (Harvey Wall), his loving wife Elva (Slater), and sadly by his son Lenes (Lorraine). Russell is survived by his son Ronald (Verna), daughter Flora (Mike Giguere) and son James. He will forever be remembered as a kind and gentle man by his grandchildren Kristen, Kimberley, Christopher, Russell, Melissa, Tiffany, Spencer and his 9 great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews and Cindi Millerwood. Russell was a farmer through and through. He was a man with an honest hand and a tireless work ethic. He loved animals, especially horses, and was an outstanding tiller of the soil. Before he and Elva moved to a larger farm near Beachburg, they toiled endlessly to raise their young family on the small, rugged homestead on River Road in Horton. It was not an easy life and although he never complained, there is little doubt in the minds of his children that he would often go back to the fields hungry, selflessly leaving a little more food on the table for his family. Three very important absolutes in Russell’s life were his love for his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, family devotions following the supper meal, and that week-after-week everyone in his family got dressed in their Sunday best and sat together in the centre pew of the Little Brown Church. Friends called at the Fraser-Morris & Heubner Funeral Home Cobden, Sunday, April 12. Service was Monday, April 13 in the Chapel. Spring interment Horton Cemetery at a later date. Donations to the Bonnechere Manor Pinnacle Wing or the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada would be appreciated
