RENFREW—The Renfrew Victoria Hospital sleep program will soon lay its head down in a spacious new home base at 100 Health Village Lane.
This means the respirology clinics, Sleep Products store and, later this year, Ontario Telemedicine Network (OTN) clinics—all your respirology and sleep services—will operate under one roof for a better customer experience!
A related service, the RVH Sleep Apnea Study Laboratory will remain on the third level of the hospital.
“Our new space was designed with all of the functional aspects of the sleep program in mind, as well as many other wonderful improvements to help us better serve our clients and customers,” shares Melissa Gourley, Registered Respiratory Therapist and Sleep Educator.
Topping the improvements list is the ease of access on the ground level through the main entrance of the new Professional Building.
“The lack of stairs will be a huge bonus for many of our clients.”
Their new accommodations will include a large retail space for sleep equipment and related products with expanded space for inventory. Gourley says she will have no issue keeping the store well stocked with a variety of continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) machines and masks.
The program will continue to be staffed by the same experienced technicians who provide service in the sleep lab—registered respiratory therapists or polysomnographic technologists specializing in sleep.
In the new store, all patients will be assessed and fitted in one of the three private consult rooms by Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (RPSGT).
Patients will use the same waiting area for all clinic appointments when booked with one of three visiting RVH Sleep Specialists. There are separate clinic rooms for physician consultations.
“Before the end of the year, we will also be equipped to run our own OTN clinics—eliminating the need for people to go back and forth between the hospital,” notes Gourley. “Overall, there will be improved flow for our patients and staff.”
Since June 2009, RVH Sleep Products has been fitting, selling and servicing sleep apnea products to patients diagnosed with a sleeping disorder such as sleep apnea. In 2014, RVH Sleep Products went digital, with an online store at www.rvhsleepproducts.com
“We have really grown over the years,” Gourley says of the need for a larger Sleep Products store and integrated sleep program.
“We are really pleased to be able to provide all of the sleep services in one accessible location, by experts in the field who truly care about your needs and helping you achieve the best sleep possible,” adds Julia Boudreau, RVH Vice-President of Corporate Services.
