Glen Smith was presented with a paddle as a gift from the Renfrew County Soil and Crop Association. Following his retirement from the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Mr. Smith maintained his ties with the agricultural industry in Renfrew County as Secretary-Treasurer of the Renfrew County Soil and Crop Association. This very active farmer-run organization operates test plots to test nutrient management and conducts experiments to find the best practices to ensure good stewardship of the land and provides input at local and County levels to ensure that policies made reflect the importance of the agricultural industry in Renfrew County. Mr. Smith’s leadership in all these endeavours over 15 years was recognized at the annual meeting held in December. On hand for the presentation are, from left, Craig McLaughlin, Gerry Richards, Jennifer Dick-Doelman, Mr. Smith and Ian McGregor, all from the Renfrew County Soil and Crop Association. It was suggested he use this paddle during his leisure time at his home on Lake Dore. Photo submitted
