WHITEWATER REGION (Cobden) — The Cobden Astrolabe Arena recently took on a new look. The lobby area, where many people gather before, during and after an ice rental, now have new scheduling and dressing room boards.
These new additions are, in large part, from an in-kind donation from both gary & ron’s Kitchens of Cobden and SunSign Graphics of Pembroke.
While not a hockey fan, Robin Sjaarda of SunSign Graphics, is a fan of a community that does support hockey.
“This is where the community is at,” he said. “All the teams play in area rinks. The parents spend money on their kids. The advertisers support the arenas.
“We are supporting each other,” Mr. Sjaarda said.
The Community Services Department has taken great pride in the newly acquired signs, said Hugh Martin, supervisor of arenas and parks for Whitewater Region.
These signs will help improve weekly scheduling and what is happening throughout the week, he said, noting the second sign will have a fresh new look for the daily dressing room allocation.
“I would like to thank these two tremendous businesses for the great additions to this facility,” Mr. Martin said.
Community Services manager Jordan Durocher added, “It is great community partnerships like this which helps improve our facilities and the day-to-day operations. We are fortunate to have such a giving community.”
