BEACHBURG — A portion of Beachburg Road in downtown Beachburg is getting a $370,000 facelift.
There could be traffic jams over the next few weeks as the road goes under the knife. Miller Paving/Smith Construction of Arnprior was awarded the contract.
Renfrew County Public Works Director Steve Boland said Beachburg Road, from Jamieson Crescent to Mill Creek, will get a shave and pave.
Basically, the current hardtop will be shaved off and the surface will be repaved, he explained.
Curbs will be repaired and there will be adjustments to manholes and catchbasins, he added.
The work begins Monday and is expected to be completed in the first week of October, Mr. Boland said.
There will be delays, and possibly detours, but they will be short term, he said. Some people may even find it difficult getting in and out of their driveways due to fixing curbs, he said. He added that some people may have to park somewhere else other than their driveway, but if that were to happen, the people will be notified.
Mr. Boland believes it was in the early 1980s the last time this road was rehabilitated.
Bill Misener, public works manager for Whitewater Region, said Smiths will also insulate four water services that have been freezing up the last few winters.
“It’s not a major job, more like maintenance,” Mr. Misener said.
