Close to 60 floats participated in the 7th annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Douglas Saturday evening. St. Patrick (Guy Jamieson) shakes hands along the parade route. Many people were wondering who was in the stretch limousine — the prime minister of Canada; mayor of Admaston-Bromley Township — none of those. It was St. Patrick himself. There was live cattle on the Renfrew Pontiac Livestock sale barn float. Erica and MJ Rice’s family float in the parade. Standing at the front of the Rice float were, from left, Tim Tabbert, Masen Rice and his dad MJ. The Beachburg Lions float kept toes tapping as it rode along in the parade. Preston and Terry Cull were well-dressed for the 7th annual parade. Donna Burns sat at the front of the Ontario Landowners float. Members of the Cobden Scout Pack waved to the crowd as they travelled along on their float. Riding in the comfort of the truck for the Cobden Agricultural Society float are Brian Hamilton and driver Steve Schultz. Waving from the back are their wives, Nancy Schultz, left, and Lorraine Hamilton. Driving the old Cobden firetruck representing John’s Repair were John Cull (the driver) and passenger Jamie Caswell. Members of the Renfrew Highland Pipes and Drums lead the parade from St. Michael’s School throughout downtown Douglas and returning to where it began.
