BEACHBURG — The County of Renfrew is being asked to investigate the possibility of installing street lighting at a dangerous intersection in Whitewater Region where two county roads meet.
Councillor Cathy Regier said she heard from a concerned citizen about the intersection of Beachburg and Westmeath roads (County Roads 21 and 12 respectively.)
When travelling in either direction, from Westmeath, Pembroke or Beachburg, there are curves at that intersection, she explained.
“If there’s a snow storm, fog, or anything, the layout of that intersection, cars are coming from around a corner, it’s very dangerous,” she said. “It’s very dark there and there a lot of traffic that turns off to Westmeath.”
Council agreed to suggest to the county that it investigate installing street lighting at its discretion and expense to improve safety.
