A fundraiser held for a well-known Cobden woman was very successful.
Just over $24,000 was raised by the Pullin’ for Patsy fundraising committee. The money was given to Patsy Moore, who is going through more cancer treatments, to be used for medical and personal expenses.
A Whitewater Region township employee, it’s well known if you need something, Ms. Moore is there to help if she can — and that’s why a fundraiser was organized for the well known woman.
“It was a success,” said Betty Heubner, one of the committee members. “The support of the people was unbelievable.”
Fellow committee member Janet Burns agreed, noting that was after expenses.
“The amount raised was amazing,” she said. “It was beyond what I expected.”
Ms. Burns believes the amount raised was due to two things. The first is that Ms. Moore is well-known and is ready and willing to help anyone she can.
The second is the hard-working committee, she said.
“We may have been a small group, but we did amazing work in a short period of time,” Ms. Burns said.
To raise the money, three separate fundraisers were held. There was a golf tournament at the Oaks of Cobden; followed by a Pullin’ for Patsy’s Bash at the Cobden Legion, which included a barbecue, silent auction and selling of t-shirts; followed by a raffle draw.
Chris Crozier of Edmonton, Alberta won the trip to Las Vegas; Cathy Horner of Beacbhurg won the weekend get-away at Logos Land and Sonya and Brent Grife won the barbecue.
Ms. Moore, who drew the three names at the Cobden Legion’s New Year’s Eve Dance, thanked everyone for their support.
The committee members are very thankful for the help they provided Ms. Moore by supporting the fundraisers.
