RENFREW COUNTY — The County of Renfrew is now accepting applications for community and allotment gardens in cooperation with the Province of Ontario. Community gardens allow individuals and families to grow fresh, affordable healthy produce while increasing physical activity. This funding is being provided by the Social Services Relief Fund. Community and allotment gardens must ensure that physical distancing is enforced during the project and participants do not gather in groups of more than five people.

“Community and allotment gardens play an important role in supporting people to grow their own produce and be outside in a healthy way amid this outbreak,” said Debbie Robinson, Warden for the County of Renfrew. “We are grateful for the support of the Province in this initiative that will ensure fresh food is available to the many residents of the County that are deeply impacted by the pressures of COVID-19.”

Deadline for submissions is Tuesday, June 30 and those parties interested in submitting a project for funding consideration should email Laura LePine at [email protected]. It is important to note that submission of a request does not guarantee funding assistance from the Province in part or in full. All submissions will be reviewed on a first-come basis and a needs basis.
