The Council heard a motion to award a tender to Huckabone Equipment for the purchase of a Parks and Recreation Lawn Tractor, with a total cost of $17,553.63.

Durocher said that this would replace a Kuboda tractor that was ‘well past its life expectancy.

He said that they chose something with a lesser pan size, in order to avoid damaging the landscape, as well s four-wheel-drive function for narrow areas.

He said they wanted to prepare a letter for the successful bidder.

Councillor McLaughlin asked about getting tractors to replace the sidewalk ploughs.

Public Works Manager Lane Cleroux said that they were looking at a ‘closed tractor’ for work on the sidewalks.

Councillor McLaughlin asked if they could use this new tractor for both tasks.

“We’d have to be all enclosed for the winter.” Cleroux said, which Durocher said that they needed an open cab for “Getting in and out of tight spots.”

CAO Trembley said they would ‘look at all options’ for multiple uses.

Councillor Jackson asked where the money from the old tractor’s sale would go.

“Typically, if we sell a piece of equipment, we go back into reserves.” Durocher said.

CAO Trembley said that there was likely no value on the old tractor on Govdeals.

Reeve Regier asked if they received the tractor immediately, which Durocher said that the tractor model they wanted was ‘currently in stock’.

Councillor McLaughlin asked for confirmation that the old tractor was being surplussed for Govdeals, which Durocher confirmed.

The motion was carried.
