WHITEWATER REGION — At the meeting of the Council of the Township of Whitewater Region last night, two tenders were awarded last night.
Motioned by Reeve Cathy Regier and seconded by Councillor Chris Olmstead and Councillor Charlene Jackson [it was not made clear which Councillor was documented as seconding the motion], the award of Tender 2020-13 Gravel Crushing was awarded to Bonnechere Excavating Inc. It was awarded at a cost of $102,930.24 inclusive of non-refundable harmonized sales tax (HST).
Four bids were received as follows, not including HST: Bonnechere Excavating Inc bid $101,150; McCrea Equipment Rentals bid $114,800; G.P. Splinter Forest Products bid $119,300; and R.G.T. Clouthier Construction Ltd bid $167,300.
During the 2020 budget process, a list was provided for the next roads to receive gravel. “Based on the tender price for gravel crushing and the cost of purchasing the raw material, a total of 16.25km will be completed in this year’s gravel road program as shown in the attached map,” said Township documentation. The tender specified crushing 35,000 tonnes of granular ‘A’ to complete the 2020 gravel road program and surface preparation of Powers Road. The raw material will be purchased from the Robinson Pitt located on Dunnes Road and crushed on site.
The following roads will be completed in 2020: Chaffey’s Trail, from Westmeath Road to dead end; Malloy Road, from Yakabuskie Road to White’s Beach Trail; Nicolai Road, 800m from Gore Line; Pleasant Valley Road, from Dejardins Road to Lapasse Road; McLaughlin Road, from Beachburg Road to Hila Road; Calvin Road, from Orin Road to pavement; Poff Road, from Snake River Line to Highway 17; Dittburner Road, from Grants Settlement Road to dead end; and Blind Line, from Kolsmith Road to Acres Road.
The remaining roads from the 2020 list will be moved to the 2021 gravel road program. These include: Fletcher Road, from Grants Settlement Road to dead end; Fletcher Road, from Government Road to Sams Road; McGonegal Road, from Indian Road to overhead bridge; Acres Road, from Kerr Line to Queens Line; and Stoppa Road, from Highway 17 to Behm Line. The tender closed on May 28 at 10:00 a.m. and submissions were opened in the presence of Treasurer Sean Crozier, Clerk Carmen Miller, Finance Clerk Sandra Moss, Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Robert Tremblay and Manager of Public Works Lane Cleroux.
Motioned by Councillor Daryl McLaughlin and seconded by Reeve Regier, the award of Tender 2020-12 was awarded to Jim Wilson Chevrolet Buick GMC. The tender is for the purchase of a 2021 Chevrolet 2500 4×4 Regular Cab at a cost of $43,756.80 inclusive of non-refundable HST.
Two bids were received as follows: Jim Wilson Chevrolet Buick GMC with truck 2021 Chevrolet 2500 4×4 Regular Cab at a tender price of $43,000; and Mack Mackenzie Motors Ltd. with truck 2020 Chevrolet 3500 4×4 Regular Cab at a tender price of $49,125.
Fleet Mechanic Terry O’Malley, Environmental Services Superintendent Steven Hodson and Manager of Public Works Lane Cleroux analyzed both bids and determined the lowest bidder met specifications. Mack Mackenzie Motors Ltd. bid included a in stock white 3500 series truck, as they could not provide a pre-ordered fleet truck at this time. Jim Wilson Chevrolet Buick GMC said GM Canada will restart production September 1, which meets the tender’s delivery date between September 1 to November 15.
A previous tender was released on March 4 for a 2500 series regular cab truck and closed on April 8, which resulted in no bids. Tender 2020-12 was issued on May 14 for a 2500 series regular cab truck for Environmental Services without a dump bed insert and snow plow.
Eight bidders picked up the tender package which was advertised on the municipal website and Biddingo. The tender closed on May 28 at 10:00 a.m. and submissions were opened in the presence of Treasurer Sean Crozier, Clerk Carmen Miller, Finance Clerk Sandra Moss, CAO Robert Tremblay and Manager of Public Works Lane Cleroux.
