The Township of McNab Braeside is busy gearing up for the annual showcase for healthy living featuring fine products, demonstrations, experts and activities that interest all members of the family.

It’s the 23rd edition of Herbfest, which has just joined the wildly popular “Taste of the Valley” series for 2018.  Part of the day’s itinerary includes an award-winning musicians’ show but also includes yoga, artisans, fun, free kids activities, product sampling and of course, herbs.  Admission is free, so come on out from 9-4 on Sunday July 29th to the beautiful Waba Cottage Museum in White Lake.  This is an all-ages, pet friendly event and is brought to you in part by The Township of McNab/Braeside Recreation Department.

The event was previously held in Almonte for 20 years before moving to the Museum and Gardens several years.  Statistically speaking, the event has enjoyed perfect weather throughout its’ history, as the previous owner of the event researched the best weather conditions amongst the 365 calendar days in the year and found the last Sunday in July to rate above all other days.  The event has rarely had poor weather conditions.

This year we are pleased to bring back the ever popular free pontoon boat rides in addition to the 50 plus healthy living oriented exhibits.  Giant Jenga and Connect 4 will capture the kids’ attention and they will also have the opportunity to dig in the dirt and play gardener during the Festival.  Unique food choices and tasty adult beverages are available on site and you can even tour the Museum with an interpreter to see what a tyrant the original inhabitant of McNab was at the Waba Cottage.  Come out and see why McNab/Braeside is so “wanderful”!! (sic).

Special presentations include some of the leading experts in our area on nutrition, composting/mulching authorities and even the Valley’s leading tomato guru.  This event guarantees that everybody, young and old alike, will learn something after their trip to the first Taste of the Valley event of the year!
