Thirsty thieves arrested at scene of break, enter

RENFREW COUNTY (Pembroke) – On June 16, 2019, at just after 5:00 a.m., members of the Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an alarm at a beer retailer in the City of Pembroke. Police discovered the business had been broken into and arrested two individuals at the scene who were in possession of break-in tools, stolen beer and merchandise.

As a result of this investigation 19-year-old Donavon HENRY-KEEPING and 19-year-old Matthew John ROURKE, both of Pembroke, have been charged with the following Criminal Code (CC) offences:

  • Break, enter and commit an indictable offence
  • Theft under $5000
  • Possession of break-in instruments

HENRY-KEEPING is further charged with one count of breach of recognizance under the CC. Both parties were held for a bail hearing and subsequently released on an undertaking. They are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on August 6, 2019.

The OPP’s Forensic Identification Services (FIS) is assisting with the investigation.
