Three charges laid regarding alcohol

Three drivers will be attending criminal court in Renfrew regarding alcohol related criminal driving charges laid during the past week.

On Thursday, January 10 at approximately 3:48 p.m., a female driver was stopped in Renfrew by officers from the Renfrew OPP Detachment., after a check of the licence plate showed unconfirmed insurance status relating to the vehicle.

The investigation revealed there was no valid insurance on the vehicle, and the female driver had been drinking. She failed a roadside alcohol screening test and was arrested.

Following further breath tests at the detachment Rachel Stekelenburg, aged 41 of Renfrew, was charged with driving over 80mgs and driving with no insurance. She was released on a promise to appear in court in Renfrew on Wednesday, February 27 for the over 80mgs charge, and on Friday, February 15 for the insurance related charge. PC Patrick O’Connor led the investigation.

 On Saturday, February 12 at approximately 11:10 p.m., PC Patrick O’Connor was conducting a RIDE program at Bellamy Road and Bayview Lodge Road in McNab-Braeside Township when he stopped a vehicle. The male driver had been drinking and failed a roadside alcohol screening test.

Following further breath tests at the detachment Colin Millican, aged 27 of Ottawa, was charged with impaired driving and driving over 80 mgs. He was released on a promise to appear in court in Renfrew on Wednesday, February 27.

On Sunday, January 13 at approximately 6:04 p.m., PC Mark O’Dacre stopped a vehicle on Highway 17 near Castleford Road in Horton Township for several traffic offences. The female driver had been drinking.

After Standard Field Sobriety Tests (SFST) she was arrested. Following further tests at the detachment Angela Quade, aged 38 of Horton, was charged with impaired driving and driving over 80mgs. She was released on a promise to appear in court in Renfrew on Wednesday, February 27.
