Tie for top spot at the Ottawa XL Games

The Ottawa XL games were held on the Ottawa River near Beachburg on Saturday, May 16.
This was an opportunity to see what will be happen at the upcoming world kayaking event to be held Aug. 30 to Sept. 5 near Beachburg. For more information on this event, check out the website worldfreestylekayakchampionships.com.
Saturday’s results show Dane O. Jackson and Kalob Grady as the top winners. Dane placed 1st in Freestyle and 4th in Boater-X, while Kalob placed 1st in Boater-X and 4th in Freestyle. After not being able to find a legitimate tie-breaker between the two athlete’s performances, the judges decided to award the two with an overall tie for 1st place. The two qualifying spots for the 2016 Whitewater Grand Prix go to Mathieu Dumoulin (3rd) and Devyn Scott (4th). Dane holds a by into the next WWGP as winner from 2014, and Kalob already qualified at last year’s Ottawa XL.
