Time for the hard work to begin

Dear Editor:

It’s time to lay down our swords, pens and keyboards. Now that the municipal election is over it is time to get back to work and be productive for the residents of Whitewater Region.

We should thank each candidate for having the courage to put their name forward and go through a very tough process to seek office.

Our thanks has to be given to outgoing Mayor Hal Johnson and Reeve Terry Millar for the many hours and tireless work they did for our region.

Congratulations to incoming Mayor Mike Moore and Reeve Cathy Regier for running successful campaigns, and to Councillor Neil Nicholson who will represent the people of Whitewater very well.

Throughout the campaign many issues were raised with the hope that these opportunities can help make our region even stronger.  Cell coverage, Ottawa River access, better health care, jobs and economic development, recreation facilities, better roads and infrastructure, Cobden Wastewater Plant, Muskrat Lake and many others will keep council busy for the next four years.

Now it’s time to set aside our differences, roll up our sleeves and work together for the benefit of each and every resident in the great Whitewater Region!

I want to thank my family, parents and many friends who carried me through this election.  I will work hard and use my abilities to proudly represent you for another term.

Chris Olmstead
