The days are getting warmer and we’re still inside and staying safe at home. If you have some plants resting in the basement or cold room waiting to come out ,now might be the time.

Take cuttings from all your Geraniums to start new ones to save you dollars in May when you might be thinking of buying some.

Take cuttings and either start them rooting in water or dip the cut in a Rooting product and put in soil with a good watering . Place in a bright window or under lights and wait for growth.

As for your houseplants if you have not started to fertilize it’s a good time with bright sun coming in your windows. It’s also time to order your garden seeds or purchase locally at your hardware stores or garden centers.

Now is a good time to repot and cut back leggy plants and get some new growth. Some people like to pot up their Dahlia bulbs in good size pots so that when spring and planting weather arrives plants are already to go into your garden.

When the snow is on the ground and cold temperatures keep you inside take this time to dream and plan new flower beds and for those who have grow lights you can start seeds that go in early ( remember to read the back of packages for timing).

Enjoy this time of waiting and start thinking gardening.

Our Whitewater Gardeners group will meet again when we’re able so do look for our meeting notices and join us. Happy Planning!
