By noon all cyclists had returned for their lunch hosted by the 4-H Club and to assemble on the slab surface of the arena.
“Seeing 400 people seated in this rink all at once is really exciting,” Ryan Ethier was heard saying upon arrival a little later in the day.
Participant’s received a Tech t-shirt as part of the registration with logos of sponsors on the back, who donated $500 for the event. More than 40 donations of cash and prizes were contributed in total.
The morning event blended nicely into the afternoon’s Brewfest, where two breweries, two vodka distillers and a winery had samples for sale. Continuous music entertained until 5 pm by area musicians as well as one duo from Montreal.
All profits from Saturday will be designated to the building of a new Community Active- Living Rest Stop, which will accommodate all of our community and any visitors to Westmeath.
What a wonderful area to cycle! Great organization, friendly volunteers and the idea to have the brewfest after with music was a great way to finish the ride. Thank you to all the volunteers who put this event together and a thank you to the community sponsors. We had friends join us for the first time this year who stayed overnight in Pembroke and Cobden. They loved it too. As a community, you should be proud of the event!
