WHITEWATER REGION (Cobden) — The Township of Whitewater Region wrapped up an evening of local entertainment featuring Headliner Platinum Blonde on Saturday, July 13. The event was staged on Main St. in Cobden, between Crawford St. and John St.

During the late afternoon evening, the street was transformed into a concert venue.  Opening acts for the headliner Platinum Blonde featured Timber Line, Station Hill, Black Water Brigade and Grey Street Duo. Organizers are still in the process of tallying numbers and the bottom line.

“We were fortunate to have the support of council to roll out this event for the third straight year,” said Jordan Durocher, Manager of Recreation & Tourism. “The purpose of this event is to attract tourism to the area, all while having the residents of the Region benefit from the event.”

While the weather looked good going into the event, Mr. Durocher also noted that the weather always plays a large part in any outdoor event.  “We were hit with a large thunder storm, half hour into the event,” he said. Mr. Durocher felt those planning their evening would have been discouraged in coming.

While the event did experience a 45 minute delay, due to thunder showers, the event fortunately was able to continue as skies cleared up and close to 500 event goers enjoyed the evening.
