The Township filed a funding application for the Place to Grow (Funding for Sectors) Environmental Stewardship Soil Health and Water Quality Program held by the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs in January 2020.

Burton said it was a “pretty positive report” to review stormwater management in the agriculture lands surrounding Cobden and its impact on local wetlands.

“We would also be trying to establish mitigation measures to handle this impact.” Burton said, saying they received support from the Renfrew County and the Muskrat Watershed council.

The Province will also fund half of the 70,000 cost for such a plan, coming to 35,000.

“It will be a start for something that would come in the future.” he said.

The motion was carried with no questions.
