Traffic stop leads to drug charges

PEMBROKE — On the afternoon of Wednesday, February 22, the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP conducted a traffic stop in the City of Pembroke after two separate complaints were received about the manner in which a vehicle was being driven.
The driver of the green Subaru, which was the subject vehicle of the driving complaints, was found to be in possession of drugs and arrested.
As a result of the investigation, 20-year-old Scott Frederick Howlett of Laurentian Valley Township has been charged with the following offences under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA):
• Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine
• Possession of a Schedule II Substance – Cannabis Marihuana under 30 grams
He was released on a Promise To Appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in the City of Pembroke on Tuesday, April 4.
