The Township of Whitewater Region’s Acting Chief Administrative Officer Marsha Hawthorne accepted a plaque from Major Kirk Watson, left, and Patrick White of Garrison Petawawa. The plaque was presented to thank the township for allowing the army to practice maneuvers within its boundaries. For those who want to get a tour of the campsites set up at Ranch Lake and Champlain Airport, they will be opened to the public from 4 to 6 p.m. until Oct. 28. Major Watson was at the Oct. 19 council meeting explaining to members the maneuvers that would be occurring within its boundaries. Mayor Hal Johnson said, “We owe you a great deal of gratitude for what you have done…We are proud of Garrison Petawawa soldiers. Anytime you want to come and train in Whitewater, you come right ahead.”
