The Township of Whitewater Region invites all interested candidates for the upcoming Oct. 27th Municipal Election to an information session on Thursday, Sept. 4th at 6:00 pm at the Municipal Hall, located downstairs in the Municipal Office at 44 Main St. in Cobden (entrance from back parking lot).
The purpose of the orientation session is to provide information about the election process and details about the roles & responsibilities of members of Council and School Board Trustees. Time commitments, remuneration and the role of municipal staff will also be discussed.
There will be a public meeting of the Renfrew-Nipissing Landowners, County Chapter of the Ontario Landowners Association on Friday, Sept. 12 at 7 p.m., Cobden Astrolabe Hall, 2nd floor of arena. Guest speaker: Liz Marshall. Topic: Municipal councils…what they should know. With the upcoming municipal election, here is your opportunity to learn what our municipal councils should be doing for the people they represent. The ratepayers are the shareholders of the municipality and the council members are the board of directors elected to look after you. $5 cover charge for non-members.
