Two wrongs do not make a right

Dear Editor:

This letter is in response to Jean Robinson’s letter, A mean municipal election in Whitewater Region published in the Oct. 25 edition of Whitewater News.

Your letter is hypocritical. at best.

I appreciate Hal Johnson’s four years of service as Whitewater’s mayor. It is a job I wouldn’t want to have so there is no room for judgement from me. He accomplished many positive things for Whitewater during the time he served and for that I thank him.

With that being said, I personally do not believe “Mike Moore’s campaign team” (as per your letter) led a disgraceful campaign. People who chose to vote, did. It is the job of any voter to educate themselves on who they vote for.

Although I feel untrue — even if this “mudslinging” as you say did in fact happen — how is your writing a public letter doing the same thing to Mike Moore any different?

When did two wrongs make a right? No one heals themselves by wounding another.

The election is over. We should move on and congratulate Mike and thank Hal!
