An earthquake registering at magnitude 3.6 shook areas in and around Pembroke Tuesday evening.
Natural Resources Canada reported that the quake, which struck at about 7:35 p.m., was “lightly felt in Pembroke and Petawawa.”
The exact location of the earthquake’s epicentre was seven kilometres west-southwest of Pembroke, or 122 km west-northwest of Ottawa.
Facebook and Twitter were going wild as people were writing about what they experienced. There were reports of the earth moving and loud bangs, but no damage reported.
Bill Misener, public works manager for the Township of Whitewater Region, said he has heard no reports of damage within the township.
