RENFREW COUNTY (Pembroke) — On the afternoon of November 17, members of the Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a fail to remain collision involving two vehicles in the City of Pembroke.

The suspect vehicle and driver failed to remain at the scene after colliding with a parked vehicle on Renfrew Street. While police were at the scene investigating, the involved driver eventually returned with a parent. As a result of the investigation, the driver was determined to be a 14 year old youth from Pembroke who had been joyriding with a friend at the time of the collision.

The young person has been charged with the following offences under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA):

  • Drive motor vehicle – no licence
  • Careless driving
  • Fail to remain

The accused has been summonsed to appear on December 9 at Provincial Offences Court.
