During the second week of the Festive RIDE campaign, Dec. 1 to 7, officers from the Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the OPP conducted 45 RIDE checks throughout the detachment area. As a result of a roadside test one driver was issued a three-day license suspension. No impaired driving or over 80mg charges were reported as a result of the RIDE campaign.
Criminal Code (CC) driving charges were laid after the OPP investigated a two vehicle collision that occurred on Dec. 3 at approximately 230 p.m. on Highway 17 in Laurentian Hills. No injuries were reported. One of the involved drivers was found to be under the influence of drugs. As a result, 27-year-old Michael Robert Jerry Devaney of Laurentian Hills was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offences: Driving while ability impaired – drug and Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
He was released on a promise to appear and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on January 09, 2018.
