Update #2: Attempted robbery under investigation

(PEMBROKE, ON) – On the evening of June 3, 2019, at just after 8:00 p.m., members of the Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an attempted robbery at a convenience store in the 600 block of Mackay Street in the City of Pembroke. A man entered the store while brandishing a weapon and fled after an altercation with the store clerk. The clerk was not injured and the man fled on foot. Responding officers, along with OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) members and the Canine Unit, were unable to locate the person of interest at the time.  Officers with the OPP’s Forensic Identification Services (FIS) are assisting with the investigation.

On the afternoon of June 6, 2019 members of the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) arrested a subject in Pembroke in connection with this incident. 32-year-old Kaile James ARCHIBALD of Pembroke has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Robbery with a weapon
  • Disguise with intent
  • Fail to comply with recognizance

The accused was held for a bail hearing and remains in custody. The accused’s next court appearance is set for June 10, 2019 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke.
