(PEMBROKE, ON) – On the evening of June 3, 2019, at just after 8:00 p.m., members of the Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an attempted robbery at a convenience store in the 600 block of Mackay Street in the City of Pembroke. A man entered the store while brandishing a weapon and fled after an altercation with the store clerk. The clerk was not injured and the man fled on foot. Responding officers, along with OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) members and the Canine Unit, were unable to locate the male at the time. Officers with the OPP’s Forensic Identification Services (FIS) are assisting with the investigation.
On the afternoon of June 6, 2019 members of the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) arrested a man in Pembroke in connection with this incident. Charges are pending against the 31-year-old Ottawa man who was taken into custody. He will be held for a bail hearing on June 7, 2019 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke.
