UPDATE: Serious collision on Highway 17 under investigation

(LAURENTIAN VALLEY, ON) – On June 17, 2019 members of the Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a serious motor vehicle collision involving a motorcycle and passenger vehicle. The collision took place shortly after 8:00 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 17 and B Line Road in Laurentian Valley Township (LVTP). At the time of the collision the passenger vehicle was eastbound on Highway 17 and the motorcycle was northbound on B Line Road.

As a result of this incident the driver of the passenger vehicle, 55-year-old Monique Lynn HUBERT of LVTP, has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) with the following offence:

  • Red light – fail to stop

Both drivers, who were the lone occupants of their vehicles, were transported to hospital by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.  The collision resulted in Highway 17 being closed for approximately one hour.
