Four members of the Whitewater Historical Society who attended an awards ceremony to honour volunteers were, from left, Mac Coughlin (25 years), Muriel Buttle (15 years), Lola Byce (30 years) and Hazel Hawthorn (30 years).
Last Wednesday evening in Petawawa, many of Renfrew County’s volunteers were present to receive the 2015 Ontario Volunteer Service Awards. The Ontario Ministry of Citizenship, Immigration and International Trade sponsors the awards which recognize volunteers who put in five to 60-plus continuous years of service, with a certificate and an award stylized as a trillium. Youth are also recognized for two or more years of volunteer service.
Those honoured from the Township of Whitewater Region are: Tom Agnew, Renfrew County Soil and Crop Improvement Association, 30 years; Lola Byce, Whitewater Historical Society, 30 years;
Don Campbell, Renfrew County Soil and Crop Improvement Association, 30 years; Ethel Dagg, Zion Line-Beachburg Women’s Institute, 40 years; Hazel Hawthorn, Whitewater Historical Society, 30 years; Dorothy MacGregor, Zion Line-Beachburg Women’s Institute, 25 years; Janice McLaren, Zion Line-Beachburg Women’s Institute, 30 years; Greta Patterson, Zion Line-Beachburg Women’s Institute, 30 years. hoto submitted
