WHITEWATER REGION —

Environment Canada issued a Special Weather Statement at 12:33 a.m. this morning stating significant rainfall is expected today and tonight. Rain will taper into scattered showers going into Friday.

According to The Weather Network, we are expecting a total rainfall amount of 20 to 40 mm. The heaviest rain will fall this afternoon and tonight.

Fire Chief Jonathan Wilker was to issue a flooding update at last night’s Council meeting, but was unable to attend due to a flood related issue.

Mayor Mike Moore was unable to provide new information on the flood but stated the community has really come together during this time.

The ground still has a lessened ability to absorb further rainfall. The Township of Whitewater Region continues to issue updates on their website and Facebook Page as often as possible.
