Treasurer Sean Crozier presented on the draft budget for Water, Wastewater, and General Operating Capital.
He said that there would be a total tax levy increase of 8.99% (Split into 4.19% increase for operating budget and 4.8% increase in Capital/Special Projects), with a Wastewater rate increase of 12.25% and a water rate increase of 9.3%.
He said they also amended the building permit fee to 69 cents from 60, which was 60% of the original proposed fee as recommended by council.
He said that single-family dwellings would stand to see a median estimated monthly increase of $7.92 a month.
“I know that your comments on strategic plans are important, and those questions will have to be answers, but this has answered any questions i may have had.” Councillor Trimm asked.
Councillor Olmstead asked if they could put the building fees change on record for January 2024, and that everyone receive a copy of the schedule of reserves before Sean Crozier departs.
Crozier said that he would make ‘every effort’ to make sure the Council Received the report, and said it would likely be in the audit reports.
Councillor Mark Bell thanked Sean Crozier ‘for all your hard work’ and praised the report’s accessibility.
Councillor Tabbert asked what the total was in reserves for Wastewater.
“My assumption is that there’s going to be 150,000-250,000, but I’m going to say it’s unaudited.”
