RENFREW COUNTY (Renfrew) — We’ve all heard the expression ‘it takes an army’ and that’s true of the RVH Foundation efforts and RVH’s ability to deliver first-class care in Renfrew. We are so appreciative of the dedicated army of supporters, donors and volunteers who understand the importance of standing behind our local hospital.
“The impact the community can have is evident when we’re able to purchase crucial new equipment and upgrades that enable our clinicians to continue providing quality care close to home,” says Randy Penney, RVH President & CEO. Over the last several months of 2019, one band of volunteers in particular has been driving all over Renfrew County delivering tickets, picking up ticket stubs, folding, and auditing on a weekly basis for the Foundation’s Catch the Ace lottery. “We do it because we have all needed the hospital at some point, so we know how important it is to our community… and we have a lot of fun doing it,” says volunteer Gladys Sidock.
“The support has been remarkable, and the funds raised will impact front-line care with the newest x-ray technology in a renovated suite in our medical imaging department,” notes Patti Dillabough, RVH Foundation Executive Director. The original goal was to cover a portion of the cost. However, with the help of everyone involved—volunteers, merchants in numerous communities selling tickets, and everyone who buys tickets each week because they believe in the cause—the full amount of the project has been raised.
In addition, with the Ace still in play as of week 39 and funds raised for the hospital reaching almost $900,000 to date, the Foundation has extended its commitment to the purchase of a much-needed new portable x-ray machine.
“We are truly blessed to live in such a giving and caring community,” said Dillabough. “I look forward to all we will accomplish together in 2020.” The fun will continue. RVH Foundation has initiated the process to hold a second Catch the Ace lottery once the Ace is caught!
