RENFREW COUNTY (Pembroke) — The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has seized a large quantity illegal drugs and weapons from a residence in Pembroke.
Members of the OPP Community Street Crime Unit, the OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), the Provincial Joint-Forces Cannabis Team and the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment and UOV OPP Crime Unit executed multiple search warrants at a residence on Christie Street on November 14.
Officers seized numerous firearms, an inert (no longer functional) rocket launcher and other prohibited devices. Officers also seized a large quantity of illicit drugs.
Randy Terris McLaughlin, age 27 of Pembroke, has initially been charged under the Criminal Code with:
- Importing a Firearm, Prohibited or Restricted Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition, know it is unauthorized – Sec. 103(1)(a)
- Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon – Sec. 91(2)
The investigation is continuing and numerous other charges are pending. The accused has been remained in custody and is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on November 18.
