WESTMEATH — It was a day to celebrate 110 years of education at Westmeath Public School. But, it was also a day to say goodbye to Weestmeath Public School as its doors close at the end of this school year.
To celebrate, the school hosted a variety of events, including bouncey castles, pork barbecue and decorated the school to memorabilia and photos, allowing everyone to Take a Stroll Down Memory Lane.
Melissa Dick, a parent who fought valiantly to keep the school open, said there is no anger now, just sadness. While many are dealing with the closure in their own way, she said the facebook group has provided a great opportunity for group discussions.
