Whitewater Region Township council meeting will begin an hour earlier next week, and that will be the norm from now on.
A three-hour special council meeting was held last night to update the procedural bylaw. This bylaw governs council, and is created by council.
There were several changes made, however, whitewaternews.ca will not be publishing a story until next week so all the changes are verified and there is no confusion as to what the changes are.
However, we can report that the time of council meetings has changed, as has the number of council meetings.
It was agreed the first Wednesday of the month will be committee meetings and start at 6 p.m. What the committee meetings are will be determined by what needs to be addressed.
The third Wednesday of the month will be a council meeting, and it will begin at 6 p.m.
When Doug Shields, who was sitting in the audience, asked who will be feeding council members since the meeting is shortly after most people get off work, Mayor Hal Johnson said, they can eat prior to the meeting.
Councillor Daryl McLaughlin advised he may be eating supper at his desk, since he’s not done work until 5 p.m. and won’t have time to go home, eat and get to the meetings.
