The Whitewater Historical Society is in good financial shape as we near the end of 2019. The Society is ending the year in the black, but exactly where, is not yet known as I have not completed the books. We had income and expenses of just over $13 thousand.
There were successful fundraisers throughout the year – a performance by Valdy, which brought in over the $2 thousand mark and participating in bake and yard sales.
Membership is down, however, there is not a current system in place, without spending a lot of money, on how to ensure members renew each year. As treasurer, I am asking those who are members to please send your email address to [email protected], so I can ensure the membership database can be updated yearly.
There were two summer students hired to help the society – one in the archival department and the other as tour guide.
Expenses throughout the year included upgrading our archival department, operating costs and hosting various events, including a Teddy Bear picnic and as a rest area for participants in the Tour de Whitewater cycling event held in July.
President Evelyn St. Amour and I met with Township staff to discuss the 2020 budget. We are optimistic the Society’s income and expenses will be around $17 thousand. A fully prepared treasurer’s report will be available at the upcoming annual general meeting.
Sincerely,
Connie Tabbert, Treasurer
