It was another disappointing weekend for the Whitewater Kings, as they were defeated 7-4 by the Alexandria Glens Saturday night at home and then edged 3-2 by Char-Lan Rebels in a shootout Sunday afternoon in Williamstown.

The Whitewater Kings are taking time off and don’t hit the ice again until Thursday, Nov. 1 at 7:15 p.m. against Ottawa West at the Barbara Ann Scott Arena in Ottawa. The Kings next home game is Saturday, Nov. 10 at 7:30 p.m. when the Winchester Hawks come to town.

In the Glens game, each team scored twice in the first period, each scored once in the second period; and then Alexandria scored four goals to the Kings’ one in the final frame.

Goal scorers for the Kings were Dylan Kuehl with two and singles by Quinn Vanhoof and Chad Moore. Assists were awarded to Conrad Cybulski, Kuehl and Vanhoof.

There were plenty of penalties, as the Whitewater Kings spent 55 minutes in the sin bin on 18 penalties, including unsportsmanlike conduct, hooking, fighting, cross-checking and checking-from-behind. But, the Alexander Glens weren’t innocent, spending 23 minutes in the sin bin on six penalties, including holding, fighting and slashing.

Kings goalie Anthony Kervin suffered the loss stopping 25 of 31 goals while Alexandria Glens goalie Brennan Nadeau took the win stopping 18 of 22 goals.

King Dylan Kuehl was awarded the second star while Glens Mathieu Parent and Lochlan MacDonald were awarded the first and third stars, respectively.

In the Char-Lan Rebels edging of 3-2 over the Whitewater Kings, Kings goalie Kevin Proulx suffered the loss stopping 29 of 31 goals while Rebel goalie Dawson Irvin took the win stopping 23 of 25 goals.

There were only two stars awarded – Rebel Sam Ferland received the first and King Artyom Shiman was awarded the second.

In game action, Whitewater Kings were on the scoreboard twice with both goals by Artyom Shiman, assists to Alex Lindecker, John Enright and Brayden Stewart, by the end of the second period. In the third period, they were shut down, but the Rebels tied the game, with goals from goalie Grant Craig, on a powerplay, and Sam Ferland, assists by Reese Donnelly, Justice Brownlee and Ryan Reifler.

There was no scoring in overtime.

In the shootout, each team had five shots. Alex Lindecker and Dylan Kuehl scored for the Kings, but three Rebels scored – Ryan Reifler, Evan Huntley and Sam Ferland, giving them the win. Leaving the shootout without scoring were Kings Chad Moore, Artyom Shiman and Conrad Cybulski along with Rebels Reese Donnelly and Dillon Spinner.

The penalty box had its fair share of sitters, with the Kings racking up 18 minutes and the Rebels sitting out 35 minutes.

The Whitewater Kings are in 7th place in the Richardson Division of the CCHL2 with nine points. The Arnprior Packers are in first with 18 points while the Athens Aeros are in the last spot with eight points.
