Whitewater Region Council Meeting with Provincial Government at ROMA Conference

At the recent Rural Ontario Municipal Association (ROMA) virtual conference held January 23-25, Members of Whitewater Region Council were able to meet with four Ministers of the Ford Government.

Minister of Infrastructure
The Honourable Sylvia Jones, MPP
Solicitor General
The Honourable Raymond Cho, MPP
Minister of Seniors & Accessibility

Mayor Mike Moore, Reeve Cathy Regier, Councillor Neil Nicholson, and CAO Robert Tremblay engaged the government on some key files, including farm plastics, Muskrat Lake, Provincial Parks, Ottawa River flooding/water levels, infrastructure and roads funding, natural gas expansion, reliable internet and cell service, OPP detachment boundaries, and sustainable funding for the Whitewater Seniors Home Support & Active Living pilot.

Mayor Moore stated, “It is important for Council to engage the Provincial Government on Whitewater Region’s priorities and opportunities. We also thank MPP John Yakabuski for his support.”

ROMA is the rural arm of the Association of Municipalities of Ontario. Policy, research and advocacy activities are undertaken by ROMA through AMO.

Matters which affect rural communities are brought to the attention of the provincial and federal governments.
