The Council of the Township of Whitewater Region approved agreements for the Whitewater Seniors Home Support and Active Living Pilot, which would improve and strengthen home support services, transportation, and linkages for seniors.

It is to be funded by the Province of Ontario Inclusive Community Grants, according to CAO Trembley.

The report said that: “Total budget is $64,000 with an in-kind contribution by the Township of $700 to help set up the space. The contract Coordinator/Liaison position will be staffed 25 hours per week by the Township at a cost of $44,000 funded by the grant. The building owner has provided in kind support in the amount of $3,300 with additional costs of $3,500. Remaining funds will be employed on marketing and promotion, office expenses, and mileage for the Coordinator/Liaison to meet with rural community partners. Total grant funding is $60,000.”

“I’m really looking forward to seeing the fruits of our labours in the next few years.” Councillor Nicholson said. “I’m hoping we see a return on our investment of the $60,000 for the 1500 seniors in this region.”

The motion was carried.
