WHITEWATER REGION (Cobden) — Last night, the Recreation & Tourism Committee and the Council of the Township of Whitewater Region passed a unanimous motion which directed the Whitewater Streetstrut event to be placed on hiatus for 2020.

“The event reduced the day time free events, which lessened the volunteer and staff time,” said Jordan Durocher, Manager of Recreation & Tourism. “While the afternoon saw favourable weather, the evening was struck with a series of forecasted thundershowers in the early part of the evening, which impacted walk up attendance.”

“After an approximate 45 minute delay, the event was able to showcase all entertainers. As a result of the weather, the event drew approximately 500 ticket goers to Main Street during the evening, approximately a 50 per cent reduction in attendance.”

The Township organized and held the third Whitewater Streetstrut on Main Street in Cobden on July 13. The event was staged between Crawford Street and John Street.
