COBDEN — A neighbouring municipality is losing its public works manager to Whitewater Region.
Janet Collins has been hired as the Manager of Physical Services for the Township of Whitewater Region. She will begin this position on May 23.
Ms. Collins has worked in the municipal sector since 2003 with the Town of Arnprior and with the Township of Horton where she currently serves as Public Works Manager.
She holds an Executive Diploma in Municipal Management from the Association of Municipal Managers, Clerks & Treasurers of Ontario and a Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology from St. Lawrence College.
This new position was created in March bringing together the Environmental Services and Public Works departments.  The manager will provide leadership in the areas of roads, drainage, water/sewer services, engineering, solid waste, energy, and health and safety.
“Janet will be an asset to the Township of Whitewater Region as we continue to focus on sustained investment in our important infrastructure,” said Mayor Hal Johnson.
Chief Administrative Officer Robert Tremblay added, “Janet is a welcome addition to our team and brings very valuable knowledge, skills and experience to the position.”
