WHITEWATER REGION (Foresters Falls)  The District Annual was held on May 16 at Trinity United Church in Forester’s Falls and was hosted by the Forester’s Falls branch. Their branch President Betty Black welcomed everyone to the meeting. Following the Institute Grace, a delicious supper was served by the Forester’s Falls  W.I. members.

The meeting opened with the Institute Ode, followed by the Mary Stewart Collect. The Roll Call was, “what year was your branch formed, the number of members, your first President, and your current number of members?”

Christine Reaburn did the Radification of District Directors. Judy Bohn conducted the In Memorium Service and a candle was lit for the late Winnie Kennedy who had been a member of the Queen’s Line branch.

Alisa Page from the Forester’s Falls branch presented Christine Reaburn with a card and a small rose bush for winning the 2019 Adelaide Hunter Hoodless   Woman of the Year Award. Minutes were approved from the District Annual in 2018.  The Financial Report was given by District Treasurer Iris Biggs who advised a balance of $5266.72 as of the end of April 2019.

The Tweesdsmuir Competition was won by Queen’s Line branch.  Iris Biggs presented the trophy to Ruby Bennett from that branch.  The trophy is full and there is no more room for names.  It was decided that the Tweedsmuir Competition will no longer continue.

The New Members Plaque was presented by Marion Horner of Forester’s Falls to  Lianne Oates of the Queen’s Line branch.  There were 26 people registered for the evening.  A greeting card was received from Renfrew South District, and also a Thank You card from  Juliana Coulas, Past President of North Renfrew District.

The District was advised by Beachburg Fair Board member Krista Lubitz, that any one of their buildings can be used by the W.I. for a R.O.S.E. program.

A highlight report was received from Cheryl  Sullivan, EAWIO President.  The Eastern Area Convention will be held in Vernon Ont. Octo. 28, 2019. Each District is asked to donate a $25.00 Gift Card. The Nominating Committee advised they were unable to find a District President or 1st. Vice President. Christine Reaburn advised that as long as we have a Treasurer, no other officer is needed to conduct a meeting.

The Greenwood branch is in charge of the District Quilt for 2019 and tickets were handed out at the meeting.

Christine Reaburn talked about digitizing and repairs of Tweedsmuir History Books.  She asked about funds to preserve the Snake River Telephone Documents.  The book cost $84.70.  A motion was passed that we pay for the books.  These documents require some conservancy work with a quote of $678.00.  A motion was passed that we pay to have this work completed.  A motion passed that we take the Davis Cup to the Forester’s Falls Museum.

Elaine Hennessy invited everyone to the District Annual in 2020 on behalf of the Greenwood branch, and also expressed appreciation to the Forester’s Falls branch for hosting the meeting.  Everyone then sang O’ Canada.

Bev Smith expressed her best wishes to Christine Reaburn for being selected as Honorary Secretary and Chairman of the Triennial Conference Committee.  The meeting was then adjourned.
