Greetings from the Women’s Institute for the District of North Renfrew. The following branch is reporting on their meeting for March 2022.

Greenwood: Members met in person for their March meeting with the President Sheila Kenny presiding. The meeting opened with members reading Hymn Of All Nations in unison, followed by the Institute Ode and Mary Stewart Collect.

The Secretary Kathy Bennett read the minutes from the previous meeting. The Roll Call was “Share An Irish Saying, Prayer, or Quote”. Pennies were 25 cents if you have attended the Douglas Tavern during St. Patrick’s Day celebrations, and 50 cents if you haven’t.

The Treasurer Gail Fletcher gave her report.

Kathy Bennett advised she received a receipt from St. Joseph’s Food Bank for the $250.00 donation which the branch had given them. Kathy read some correspondence from the FWIO Head Office. They are requesting that each W.I. member submit their name, address, phone number and e-mail address. She also had received forms to be submitted after the branch annual meeting in April 2022.

Iris Biggs advised the Beachburg and Cobden Fairs will take place this year and the Fair List was compiled by the Greenwood branch. Members from the other branches are encouraged to submit items for their display at the Fairs.

Carole Whitmore and Gail Fletcher were the convenors for the meeting and they each conducted a quiz pertaining to Ireland. Members then enjoyed a few short games of Crokinole. The Door Prize was won by Mary Cameron.

Carole and Gail had purchased a beautifully decorated cake to celebrate the 125th Anniversary of W.I. The cake was decorated in the W.I. colors. This was served along with ice cream.

Members were reminded that their fees will be due next month at the annual branch meeting.
