Greetings from the Women’s Institute for the District of North Renfrew. The following branch has reported on their meeting for the month of September 2022.

Greenwood: The members met for their Sept. meeting with the President Bev Smith presiding.
Cathy Green introduced the guest speaker Angela Wren who is a Professional Photographer. She has been in the business for 22 years and takes pictures of weddings, children, babies and pets. She mainly talked about cell phone photography and she showed members how to get the best pictures and how to use the different camera apps. Smart phone photography is the new era of photography. It is readily available and very convenient. Some secrets for great cell phone photography are Composition, Lines, Light, Frames, Rule of Thirds and Depth of Field. Trudi Nieman thanked Angela for her interesting talk and presented her with a gift of appreciation.

Following the Institute Grace, refreshments were served by convenors Cathy Green and Trudi Nieman.

The business portion of the meeting opened with the Institute Ode and Mary Stewart Collect. The Secretary Charlotte Cotnam-Isea gave the minutes of the previous meeting. Roll Call was “Name a highlight of your summer”. Motto was “Every leaf speaks bliss to me, falling from the autumn tree”. (Emily Bronte). Pennies were 10 cents if you have picked apples from an apple tree this season and 25 cents if you haven’t. The Treasurer Gail Fletcher gave her report. Charlotte Cotnam-Isea advised the Greenwood branch came 1st. overall for their display at the Beachburg Fair, and 4th overall at the Cobden Fair.
Members signed a card with messages for Sharron Jansen on the loss of her father-in-law Albert Jansen. They also signed a card with messages for member Jill Laverdure who has been unable to attend recent meetings. Jill has been helping to look after her grandchildren in Northern Ontario as her daughter was diagnosed with breast cancer.

The Door Prize was won by Kathy Bennett.
